General Information for Full Time Staff.  (Does not apply to “Sit-In” folks)  as of 9/25/25


Full Time Jamboree Band Staff


Registered Scout - In order to participate, you must be a registered Scout, Venture, Sea Scout, Explorer, Scouter, or College or Senior Reserve. Former scouts (presently unregistered) need to register with any Council. Call your council for details. 

Age - You must be 16 by the opening of the Jamboree July 22, 2026.  Youth staff encompasses  ages 16 - 29.

Average Age - The average age of a band member in 2017 was 18.5 not counting directors. Adults may apply but preference is given to youth. 

Musical Ability - Members of the Jamboree Band will need to play a band instrument at a high school level or better and be able to walk considerable distances. 

Information/Recommendation- In order to help select the band, we need to know a little bit about your musical ability and experience.This can be completed by your band director, private teacher, or if you are an older scout in college or an adult, you may complete this by yourself. Jamboree Staff Cost - Please see the Jamboree website for costs.  https://jamboree.scouting.org/    

Meals - All meals are included while at the Jamboree

Band Cost - In addition to the Jamboree staff cost, an additional cost of around $60 will be required for band specific items, including band t-shirts and more.

Travel To and From the Jamboree - Travel to and from the Jamboree is the responsibility of each scout. Travel Information /Arrival procedures, etc. will be available from National.

Arrival /Departure -The band will report on Sunday July 19 (travel day) with 1st meeting/rehearsal on Monday July 20 at 10:00 a.m. Performances begin on opening day of the Jamboree Wednesday July 22. The band will depart with all other staff on Friday July 31. There is some arrival and departure flexibility if needed. The drum line will report 1 day earlier. 

Instruments - With certain exceptions, you must bring your own instrument. Marching drums will be supplied. We’ll have a truck for transporting instruments around the Jamboree and for secure storage.

Music - Music will be available beginning about 6 months prior to the Jamboree for learning. 

Jamboree Participants and Staff - It is not possible to be in the staff band and be a Jamboree participant with your council contingent.  However, there will be opportunities for Jamboree participants to sit-in with the Jamboree Band. 

Jamboree Band Leadership- The Band Director is GeorgePinchock, former band director at Villanova University in Pennsylvania along with a qualified musical staff.

Getting around the Summit - Travel by foot is the way to get around the Jamboree. Get in  shape! The band will have use of a vehicle to transport instruments when needed. 

Rehearsal and Gigs - There will be two days of rehearsals prior to opening day. When the scouts arrive, the gigs begin. We could have as many as 25 gigs.  Approximately 80% of the gigs are stand up or on the move. 

Experiencing the Jamboree - The band will have time off to experience parts of the Jamboree.

Family Visiting the Jamboree -Visitor passes will be available for parents, friends and scouters. Information will be posted at the Jamboree website prior to the Jamboree. 

Social Media - Band specific information will be posted during the Jamboree.

Acceptance Policy - A balanced band will be chosen from all applicants according to instrumentation and ability based on the director recommendation.

About the 2017 and 2023 Jamboree Bands -  100% of scouts who applied were accepted. Directors and scouts were from 34 states. Ages ranged from 16 - 70.Everyone who applies is conditionally accepted into the band with the understanding that the Jamboree Band will be chosen from all conditional applicants according to instrumentation and ability. 

If you are not selected - Unfortunately, it is not be possible to accept everyone who applies. If you are not selected, you may choose your second or third staff choice, or become a free agent or you may request                            a full refund. If an opening does occur, you will be given preference to claim that spot.

Registration To register for the staff band, choose the Orange Staff Registration button located top left on the Jamboree website.   https://jamboree.scouting.org.  Register for the full Jamboree.  Choose Program/Jamboree Band as your first choice and so on. You may choose Jamboree Band as your second choice as well.


The Next National Jamboree Band 2030 ??
